Considering Designing Your Own Bespoke Engagement Ring?

Here is a breakdown of the process!

We’ve all been there, its 11pm, you’ve been scrolling through Pinterest for so long your hand is starting to hurt, and whilst you have seen some lovely rings that are almost right for your partner (or yourself) you’re starting to lose faith that the perfect engagement ring exists.

Whilst many clients do consequently find their dream ring in our vast range of designs (subtle, eh?) our bespoke ring design option means that if none of the rings you have seen are quite right, we can create you one that is guaranteed to be perfect!

In this post we will take you through the basic steps of designing a bespoke engagement ring, following the progress of one of our most recent bespoke orders!

1. IDEAS

First thing’s first – we need to know what kind of ring you want! The initial step is for you to book an appointment to see one of our team and bring us some of your ideas, so we can narrow down what sort of design you would like. 

On this occasion, our customer came in with her partner and gave us a moodboard of rings, telling us what she both liked and didn’t like about them – this helped us to synthesise a design and create exactly the ring she had in mind. 

Throughout this process we check with our head goldsmith that the ring you design is not only feasible, but will be both beautiful and safe! (otherwise he tells us off )

2. CHOOSE YOUR DIAMOND

 For this particular ring, our client wanted an oval shaped center stone, with smaller round diamonds of fluctuating sizes surrounding it.

Choosing the perfect diamond is important, and we show you a variety of different diamonds to match your criteria.

Once you have made your decision, we can begin designing your bespoke ring around your chosen stone, tailoring the ring to fit the exact measurements of the stone/s you chose!

3. DESIGN                                        

Once we have your chosen stones and we know what design you are after, we send all of this information to our talented CAD designer, who creates a computer rendering of your ring.

This is the part where the nitty gritty detail is all hashed out! The CAD renderings will be shown to you, and if there are any changes that need to be made, this is the time! We keep in close contact with you throughout the whole process but ESPECIALLY now – we want to make sure that what we create is exactly what you envisioned.

 4. MAKING THE RING

Now it’s the exciting part! You sit back and relax while we make your ring! The design will be cast in separate parts in the metal of your choosing, then meticulously built, filed, polished and set by our talented goldsmiths and diamond setters, in our on-site workshop.

5. THE FINISHED PRODUCT!

This is easily the BEST step! When your bespoke item is complete! After going through a meticulous polishing and cleaning process, and being checked rigorously in our quality control, you will receive an email letting you know that your item is ready to collect!
