The 555.55ct Black Enigma Diamond
Our very own Chris O'Farrell has been interviewed for Sotheby's on the difficulties of cutting and polishing a black diamond.
He has cut many black diamonds over the years and due to their density created by millions of minute pinpoint inclusions they can take months to cut from rough to a polished gemstone.
The 555.55ct Black Enigma diamond is the largest polished black diamond certified by the GIA and has now been sold through Sotheby's for $4.28m (£3.16m).
